The Most Memorable Moments of the 2022-2023 NBA Season

The 2022-2023 NBA season was a season filled with unforgettable moments that fans will discuss for decades.

Here’s a list of a few of the most memorable moments this past season:

1. LeBron James Becomes the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer

LeBron James is officially the King of the scoring record.

After 20… that’s right… 20 seasons LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s All-Time Scoring record.

What many thought to be an unbreakable record that was just too far out of reach was overtaken after 39 years.

Kareem officially passed the torch to LeBron.

This feat is so much more impressive being that LeBron has been labeled as a playmaker or pass-first guy throughout his career.

So, for him to sit as the highest scorer in NBA History is nothing shy of Legendary.

February 7th, 2023 will go down in history as one of the greatest moments in NBA history.

2. Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets Win their First Title Ever

The Nuggets finally winning a championship was an unforgettable moment for NBA fans everywhere.
The Nuggets have fought through adversity and have been the “underdog” for years and were never able to make it all the way.
But after 7 seasons of building this team in Denver, along with 2 Joker MVPs (& what really could have been three this season) -The Nuggets managed to cap off the year with the ultimate prize – The Larry Obrien Trophy.
It was an amazing feat not only because the Denver Nuggets are always counted out, but because they have never won an NBA championship in franchise history. The Nuggets have been a part of the NBA since 1976, so it took them nearly 50 years… but they did it.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray proved themselves to be one of the best star-studded duos in the entire league.
I don’t care if people say Jamal Murray only really shines in the playoffs… he proved himself to be a top 3 PG in the league after his performances.
But without their chemistry and depth, none of this would have been possible.
Aaron Gordon, MPJ, and KCP were the perfect running mates alongside the Joker.
And you had players playing big off the bench like Bruce Brown, long-time NBA vet Jeff Green, and rookie Christian Braun.
The Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in only 5 games to win the 2023 NBA Title.

Yes, I mentioned the Nuggets winning the title, but we can’t forget about The Miami Heat’s legendary run from the 8 seed.

Jimmy Butler and the Heat made an incredible run in the 2023 playoffs – one that no one thought possible. If you told someone the Nuggets would be playing the Heat in the Finals they would have said you were crazy.

Not only were the Heat the 8 seed, but they had to defeat the Chicago Bulls in the play-in before even being awarded a playoff spot.

After that, they proceeded to defeat the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks even after losing Tyler Herro.

Second round – eliminate the Knicks with ease… and then cap it off by taking out the Eastern Conference favorite Boston Celtics in a good ol’ fashioned Game 7 in the Garden.

Jimmy Butler was playing out of his mind and leading this team to victory after victory.

By the Finals though, the Nuggets seemed to be too much for the Heat. They had an answer to everything the Heat threw at them. The Nuggets definitely deserved the NBA title this season, but that does not take away from the incredible run by the Miami Heat.

4. Two 70-Point Games along with Multiple 50+ Point Games

The 2022-2023 NBA season had some unreal scoring nights…
This season there were two 71-point games by Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard.
Donovan has always been a great scoring guard averaging 23+ PPG throughout his career, but I don’t think anyone expected him to drop seventy-one… especially in his first season with his new squad.
We all knew this would probably eventually happen with Dame as he’s already had multiple 50 – 60 point games. He actually had a 60-point game this season as well.
There were countless 50-point games this season with players such as Joel Embiid dropping 59, Devin Booker with 58, and Julius Randle with 57.
Some may say the defense has dropped off in today’s day and age, but really the offensive power of these players is just unmatched.
The NBA is at an all-time high for scoring.
The 2022-23 NBA Season was one for the history books.
